This is my mulch pile…. I just had it delivered yesterday and so I am slowly working on it… my back hurts just looking at it. Today the weather was perfect, so I mulched and pulled weeds and make a slight dent in it. I’ll be playing gardener tomorrow afternoon too….and who knows how many days after that!

Memorial Day
Happy Memorial Day!! This morning we went to our town's Memorial Day Services as we do every year. My husband is in the color guard and for many years my daughter played in the high school band and then became the drum major. This year we were both just spectators.
I had a picnic at noon, my daughter's boyfriend met her grandparents. I have been eating all day! We had a perfect day for a picnic but we ate inside with the windows open since my father is 92 and has trouble negotiating any steps etc... The dishes are still in the sink, after everyone left I sat down and haven't gotten up yet. DH left for the 1.5 hr. trip to his job and Molly had to work this evening too. So, it’s just me and the dogs relaxing and puttering around the house.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy day!!! The speaker this morning challenged us all to go out and have a nice time at our picnics but to remember that the picnics are possible because of the brave men and women who have fought in the past to keep our country free.

This Week's Finds
This week I stopped at the gym on my way to work since they were having a yard sale. I spent $4 and am happy with my purchases. I got three different sizes of spring form pans for $1…. And since Molly’s boyfriend loves cheese cake, she probably needs one. I found another nice mirror for my mirror wall, I already have it painted, just need to put it back together and hang it. And I bought a vintage dress form I have seen these lately on a lot of blogs and although I’m not sure what I want to do with it, I will be having a spare room in only 7 days, so I may dress it up and use it up there. Or maybe I’ll resell it. I only paid $1 for it. In fact the lady told me she’d pay me $1 to take it! So, once again I got some good deals, I don’t think I took the time to stop at many yard sales last year and I almost forgot the fun that they are… Now I have to plan to get rid of some of my own stuff before bringing more treasurers into my home.

Stress!
Hi, I’m up to my ears in projects and Molly wants to have a picnic on Memorial Day so that her grandparents can meet her boyfriend. So tonight I planned the menu and made a mental note of all I want to get done this weekend. We have had so much rain lately and the grass continues to grow, and it’s to wet to mow, so that’s on the list for the weekend as is cleaning. Oh did I mention that the carpets in the dining room need shampooed before my mother comes to visit!
I usually spend Memorial Day weekend planting and getting the gardens in shape. I haven’t even ordered any mulch yet and I am in the process of painting furniture (down to just 9 days) before Molly moves out! Ahhh yes, and so I have been stress eating….
Ok, take a deep breath .... I can do this!
Oh, the photo is what my house will probably look like for Memorial Day....after the grass gets mowed the flags will come out and I'll hose the porch off and call it Memorial Day!

Yard Sales
This morning before I went in to work Molly and I planned to hit some neighborhood yard sales in Beavertown. We had a very productive morning. She spent about $15 and so did I. Here is my $15 worth of stuff. The tall brown shelf unit will be painted white. I’m not sure what I will do with it, but I’m redoing my bedroom this summer and that might be part of the plan. The candlesticks have already been painted white and so has the picture frame. I took it apart and sprayed it, the mat will also be sprayed when I know what I will use it for. The pillows look handcrafted and I have carried them all around my house and don’ t known where to use them, so I put them back in a bag and will incorporate them into my bedroom plan. I love the mirror I purchased also although I’m not sure where it will go, possibly replace one of my current mirrors. I've already changed the faded lamp shade and my "new" lamp looks great!
Molly got a coffee pot and a nice mirror to hang on the wall also, some kitchen supplies and a couple wall shelves for her apartment. They will need to be painted also. It was cold and rainy all morning but there seemed to be a lot of people out poking around at the sales.

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother’s Day to everyone. I hope all you mother’s had a special day. My daughter is home from college and came to church with us this morning and then took me out to a movie this afternoon. I love to go to the movies and just don’t go often enough.
We saw “Made of Honor”, I’m a big fan of Patrick Dempsey. The movie was fun and a nice way to spend my Mother’s Day. However, some idiot mother brought her young (about 8 I’d guess) to a PG 13 movie and he talked the whole way through it. Of course he was right behind us asking his mother what words like “sensitivity” and “fornicator” mean. The movie dealt with big girl themes and was really not appropriate for kids. Geesh! I think ratings are there for a reason!

This Weekend's Project
I didn’t have a whole weekend to myself…my husband had plans for me, but I did manage to paint a love seat that was collecting dust in the basement.
Earlier this week I was reading a blog and studied a very pretty photo of a small outdoor living space, and the wheels started turning…. So the love seat that I told my husband to take to the dump just last week went from a very beat up white wicker piece to this…..
The space that the wicker is in, is the patio area off the sunroom. We lovingly refer to it as the "poop yard". When we got a dog we fenced the space in and added some grass to one area, it used to be called "Rusty's yard" because when we just had one dog that was a dignified term I thought...then we added another dog and it became the "poop yard!" Anyhow, I decided that this year I would like it to look as nice as it can for what it is... so I'm hoping when I have guests in the sunroom they just notice the loveseat and pots filled with flowers (I'll be adding more as soon as the weather warms up).
