I'll be doing something tomorrow that I have never done before.....something that a lot of you already do and don't think a thing of it...but not me....I am starting to get cold feet! I have an appointment to spice up my hair tomorrow at noon. I have had red hair all my life and anytime I mentioned color or highlights or anything that would alter the color of my hair, my mother would launch into a lecture so..... I hear you mother, but I'm not listening!!!!
I've had highlights before but never had anything other than that. I'm 55 and my hair is dull and lifeless and boring....it's winter and cold and right now my life is about as dull as my hair so its time to do something interesting and fun. My first choice would be to lose about 20 pounds but I don't see that happening so I'm going to have my hair colored. I am hoping that I leave the salon thinking "I should have done this 10 years ago" but I'll settle for "I think I'm going to like this".
Monday when I got my nails done we picked a color...I'm going with a red that will be a bit darker than my natural shade and then I'm getting highlights on top of that! Ok, I'm sure that's more information than anyone would ever be interested in....
So, tell me your hair coloring stories...I'm particularly interested in the ones where you tell me that it makes you feel great and look about 10 years younger... Do you stick with the same color or change your color with the season or your mood?

I have always gone for the reddish color range, like Cinniberry in the Natural Instincts because I can't use permanent dyes on my head. I always feel like a queen when I'm done, it takes the dulldrums out of my hair, which makes my eyes twinkle a little more!
Way to go Kay! I'm looking forward to seeing your new "do" on Sunday. I have had highlights for several years and just yesterday at work one of my clients told me I didn't look any older than when she first met me 5 years ago! I wanted to give her a hug but told her she made my day! Last year I didn't highlite as routinely as I had been doing and really noticed the difference in my demeanor as well as manageablilty of my "do".
I'll be thinking about you today...don't back out. Sandy
You go girl! And if you want something fun, different, or even shocking - go for it!
You've earned the right to make a statement :-)
That's the spirit! Change is good. If you're at the point when you want a change, you will like the color! I'm going through the same thing, so I'm getting my hair cut/styled next week!
I'm getting a much needed CUT (style) tomorrow! I may even go for a new color, but I will do that on my own and it will stay in the brown family. (probably darker than in the past) When looking at photos....that's when I really notice either DRAB or LIFE in a person's face (my own included!)
I really LIKED my gray but it really drew the 'life' out of me. I kept walking past a mirror and seeing an OLD person. Gray in men is 'distinguished'...in women it's sadly more like a 'hag'/haggard. Why no new photo of the new color and 'do' ??? I'm waiting to see THAT before and after photo!
