Dishaholic

I'm a dishaholic.... I love dishes and  I can't walk through a department store without checking out the housewares department and the dishes.

I love thrift stores but here in Central PA I haven't been to successful finding lovely dishes.  I like old dishes and am particularly fond of Bavarian china and lovely hand painted roses.   I also like new dishes and like to change out our dishes every couple months.

This week I purchased some Lenox dishes.... Butler's Pantry....I was so excited to get them out of the package and wash them and put them in the cupboard.  Uh....the cupboard.... it's not quite big enough.... what a bummer!  I can't get the cupboard door closed with the plates in them so today I decided to do some rearranging and reorganization so that I can have my new plates handy.   I spent the morning cleaning out the pantry so I could put stuff from another cupboard in there and have room for the plates.   Mission accomplished!   These are my new dishes.

Anyone else love pretty dishes?

Hi Kay,
Your dishes are so pretty! I have a fondness for dishes myself, and have several sets, which I like to change out also. I love florals, and red transferware, but am also very fond of the blue. Dishes can display a mood, an attitude, and I like that. Somedays I'm flowers and butterflys, other days I'm a little on the contemporary side! And how I set the table reflects that!

I so know what you mean. I have a thing for 1920's-1950's serving platters and caserole dishes, especially covered dishes. I have a huge collection of them; soup tureens included.

I'm glad that you enjoy them. Having pretties to oooohhhh and aaaawwww over are just one of life's simple pleasures!

Kay,
I am also a plate hoarder. That's what I call myself anyway. I love your set. I think everyone should have a white set. I have been on the hunt for a white set. I have 3 sets of china and I never use them. Why oh why do I need more dish? Well, cause I can't put my china in the microwave, that's why! Enjoy your new dishes.
Hugs,
Laurie

Yes, I love dishes, too, but my current favorite thing is to go to thrift stores and find flatware of different patterns. I have quite the collection of mismatched forks and spoons. I also have a set of china and silverware that was my mom's, but I really love going to the drawer for a fork and choosing one of my favorites. Simple pleasures indeed!
